Pilot Flying J Acquires Travel Center in Inver Grove Heights, Minn.
Pilot Flying J recently acquired a travel center in Inver Grove Heights, Minn., and will remodel the Pilot Travel Center to feature full amenities for professional drivers and the motoring public. The travel center is located at 11650 Courthouse Blvd. along U.S. Highway 52/55 in Dakota County. It will remain open during remodeling, which is expected to be complete in May 2012.
The 7,500-square-foot travel center will feature four fuel islands and five diesel islands along with DEF at the pump. The facility also will feature high-speed fuel pumps that provide faster flow so customers can refuel quickly as well as a restaurant and a wide variety of convenience items.
“We hope that Inver Grove Heights area residents and fleet customers will enjoy the convenience and amenities of our new Pilot Travel Center,” said Jimmy Haslam, president and CEO of Pilot Flying J. “As the driver-driven company, we are proud that this travel center will serve this community through products and services as well as contribute to the local economy through jobs and tax revenue. And, we’ll fill the needs of those carrying goods to communities across the nation.”
The Pilot Travel Center in Inver Grove Heights is part of the network of more than 550 travel centers and travel plazas in the Pilot Flying J family, which serves more than 1.3 million customers every day across the U.S. and Canada.
The Inver Grove Heights location will include a Subway restaurant, which will reopen after the remodeling is complete; hot food deli; clean restrooms; pay phones; an AirVac; fax and copy services; Western Union and check cashing; an ATM; lottery and Lotto tickets; an arcade; laundry services; and general merchandise for professional drivers and highway travelers.
“We believe our familiar Pilot sign will be a welcome sight for interstate travelers and professional drivers. They’ll want to pull off to fill up, refresh and sample some of our featured food items like pizza and Oscar Mayer hot dogs,” said Alec McDonald, general manager for the Inver Grove Heights location.
“Our premium hot beverages include gourmet specialty coffees from all over the world as well as Pilot’s house coffee which was named the ‘Best Coffee on the Interstate’ by the readers of Truckers News. We also have a variety of fountain drinks, frozen drinks and fresh brewed tea.”
In addition to diesel fuel and DEF at the pump, professional drivers will have access to such services as a CAT scale, three automated showers and 43 parking spaces for trucks. After remodeling, the travel center will offer five automated showers. The Inver Grove Heights location also features driver services such as Transflo, Trip Pak and “The Truck Paper” magazine.
As with all other Pilot Flying J locations, the Inver Grove Heights Pilot Travel Center honors the Frequent Fueler Advantage card. Pilot and Flying J merged in 2010, and both brands are still available on U.S. highways.
